SCOPE: Led 4 direct reports and 12 total staff in telecommunications and IT operations that included network, web, and desktop support within a highly regulated industry. Managed multimillion-dollar budget and co-managed total IT budget.
~ Provided crucially needed IT leadership during period of increase from 100 to 650 employees, organic business growth at a rate of 30-40% each year, and expansion into 5 new European offices. Matured/expanded support group and spearheaded accelerated development, providing increasingly robust solutions and services to enable streamlined business growth. With an eye on the bottom line, held spending down, continuously strengthening IT process, financial, infrastructure, and employee performance while managing costs at 5-8% under budget.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND VALUE-ADD:
* Created IT foundation that enabled 2500% growth in 7 years. Expanded from 4 to 50 servers and from 100 to 600+ workstations, including laptops for remote staff. Replaced outmoded DOS-based ERP system with major upgrade that, as an added benefit, met all FDA requirements for security and data integrity.
* Opened the door to international sales that grew to account for 25% of total revenue, launching 5 offices in Europe and leading associated ERP system modifications that allowed for selling and shipping between offices, enhanced ability to meet local demand, and complied with local (country specific) regulatory requirements.
* Produced 8-fold improvement in IT support response times and 6-fold improvement in resolve times as direct result of implementing new IT Balanced Scorecard. Built loyal, motivated, high-performing technical staff and maintained uncommonly high 96+% retention rate while producing excellent results on key metrics:
- Delivered 99% closure rate for incidents and 102% closure rate for change requests (clearing backlog)
